I'm working on a quilt rack/shelf using African mahogany. I plan on using a pore filler and then a dye to darken it a bit. I would like to finish it with a glossy coat. If left to my own, i would just use some glossy wipe on poly since i've used that before, but since it won't have a lot of wear (just knickknacks sitting on top and occasional dusting), i could use other finishes. Any suggestions on something that might be better, or should i just go with the poly? I'm looking to try out something new for me as long as there is some advantage to it.
Here is the rack so far, just dry fitted sitting on the floor. The quilt will hang from a dowel underneath the shelf.
Thanks!
