This wood came from Brian(bluthart) - where has he been by the way:icon_scra Tracy and I cut a huge piece of it up today in some turning stock and this bowl came from a piece of wedge that I cut - I seen on a DVD that the turner turned one out of a wedge and I thought I would give it a try - not quiet like his but close

great bowl natural edges are sweet but can certainly be challenging.
Pear is a wonderful wood to turn.
How dry was the wood and what did you finish with. Also did you
do anything to your edges - ca etc?

Thanks Andrew - I got the wood from Brian(bluthart) last fall and TracyP and I sealed the ends of the logs with anchorseal and he put more on it since then - Some of them still cracked - We cut some turning blanks out of the biggest piece a few weeks ago and I came home and started turning this one - It was still somewhat wet - I don't have a meter so I really do not know - As of today I have not put anything on it as far as finish - nothing on the edge - right now it is an oval shape, if you hold it up to the light you can see little holes in a few places and there is a few rough places where the grain has popped up -This is the bowl I was having trouble with the Jam chuck not working right - and the bottom has bowed out - and it wobbles a little - I am going to try and sand the bottom flat - then I am going to let it do what it wants and hit it with 320 -400 grit and then BLO and 2coats of poly
