Does [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]Osage Orange grow around here? I would really like to get my hands on a decent saw log or two.

Thanks

Old fence rows are a good place to look. It's not a native tree to this area but was often planted as a natural fence barrier. If it is around, it's not hard to find just look for the fruit

There are some trees around. There was a huge one by my back door when I moved here. It was long dead and a menage so we cut it down. But you should be able to find a few trees to cut.

Really? so they actually grow around here? I'm on a quest now... I would like to find a big ole ugly one to mill up.

Thanks guys - this and Holly I really want to put on the mill. I think they both would make great additions to my pen blank collection.

Back in the late seventies, I built a building over at St agustine's College in Raleigh. There was a thicket of Osage Orange growing there then. At least i know it does grow locally here.

Oh thorns make it all that much more fun :-D. What's really cool is a poision oak or ivy vine curled up around the tree. Thank God I could roll around in poision oak or ivy and not get one blister, but on the other hand poision sumac eats me up. How did the conversation get here anyways?
