Where’d that tree come from?

Sitting in my living room yesterday afternoon watching the 5 o’clock news I heard a loud snap and a rush of leaves, then a crash as a neighbor’ s maple tree came down and smashed my freestanding garage/workshop. The roof has several holes and splintered rafters and the walls are about 5 degrees out of plumb. Lucky that my machines and hand tools suffered no real damage. No damage to my shop-built cherry tool chests at right in the photo or the chisels and saws inside. I feel very lucky considering what others lost in the storm.

It’s good you were not inside when that happened. Do you need help moving tools or cleaning up? Are you going to repair or replace the building?
Thanks, Mike,
I’ve got everything stabilized and tarped to prevent water damage. Moved all my hand tools to my basement. Just have to wait for the insurance adjusters to act. Have to see what they will pay for.

Hopefully the insurance adjusters will be reasonable for you. I’m sure you, like most of us, have some things that you just can’t replace, whether they are antique or have sentimental value.

Hopefully insurance covers it, they look for reasons not to. Good thing you don't make money / use for a business any of your tools out there, it's just for fun.
