Hello everybody, my name is Anthony Richio and wanted to introduce myself and say hi. I currently live in Chesterfield County Virginia which is right outside of Richmond. We moved down here 6 years ago from the Philadelphia PA area. I work for the Richmond Police Department as a patrolman and prior to that I worked as a police officer back in PA for 14 years. I just started woodworking as a hobby mainly because it helps me beat some stress associated with my job plus I like doing things with my hands. I work out of my 16' x 23' garage which I share with our heating/ac unit, refrigerator and some other stuff. I do not have the greatest tools/machines out there but I can get my projects finished with what I have. I am constantly looking for ways to make the garage more efficient in terms of space, storage and open area to move/work but I am concentrating on an air filtration system right now. I joined this forum to learn as much as I can about this wonderful hobby that I have plunged myself into. Thanks for allowing me to participate and if there is anything I can do for any of you please let me know.

Hi Tony,

Welcome to NCWW. I'm glad you found us and decided to join. No doubt, you'll hear how much we love photos... of projects, tools, shops, shop pets, piles of sawdust... etc. What kinds of projects do you like to work on?

I do mostly small stuff, jewelry boxes for my girls, a few wine racks for friends. I like to do a lot of the stuff that comes from the wood magazines because it is geared for beginners and larger projects intimidate me to a point. But saying that I just finished gluing up a nightstand that I need to finished sand and then stain. Here is a pic of the unfinished nightstand.

Welcome Tony :icon_thum - from a Midlothian native. I'm sure you've already discovered that this is a great site. I like the night stand - especially the way the legs flare out. Keep the pictures coming!

Welcome to the site Tony. :eusa_clap:eusa_clap:eusa_clap You've definitely found the right group of folks to answer your questions. I've learned more from this wonderful group than I ever would've otherwise. If you ever happen to pull a guy in a black Honda with NC tags and an NCWWer sticker on the back window, just let him off with a warning please. :eusa_pray

All kidding aside, it's great to have you here. I'm looking forward to your input in the forums and seeing your work. Beautiful looking nightstand. :icon_thum

Welcome Tony, you will like it here I know I do. I retired from law enforcement in NJ and moved to VA 3 years ago. Woodworking is indeed a great stress reliever. :wsmile:

Tony, welcome from one newbie to another. I just moved from Chester in 6/09 to down south of southwestern North Carolina (okay, its Blairsville, GA and I just missed NC by 5 miles). I was raised in the Tri City area, left because of jobs, but returned in 1993 and your department has really come a long way since since then. Congratulations! The family really loved the Richmond area and I'm sure you will.

Welcome to the forum again.
