Looking for Recommendation on Hollow Turning

My interest is peaked in the hollow form turning (with the use of hollowing systems) and was wondering if anyone could make an recommendations on where to start learning more on the subject ... like a good DVD, or website with good "beginner" info.:eusa_thin

Hey Jeremy... I use the Jamieson system, his video is good but is mostly geared toward how to use his system. Here's another link I found:

Thanks for the links. I am borrowing the Jamieson system right now and have done some light work with it, seems pretty good ....

I'm just looking for things that you guys can recommend on the education side of hollow forms so that I don't kill myself. I figure there must be some theory to this, right?

I talked for quite a while with Lyle when I bought the system. One of the points he made over and over was to reduce vibration. He, and others, make a strong point of leaving the base of the turning over sized and securely attached to the lathe using a face plate, thus reducing vibration and the possibility of a catch slinging it off the lathe. The outer area of the base is only turned down after the inside has been shaped.

Sounds like you need to come out to the house and pick up some of the huge chunks of maple. I'm pretty sure one or two of them are still solid enough to make a hollow vessel big enough to put your little man in.

I mean, what's the point in having a huge lathe if you're not going to chuck up a 125lb+ chunk of wood?
