Interesting table design: "floating top" steel and cherry end table

One of the TechShop RDU members was working on this table when I was in there the other week.

It's one of the cleanest/simplest designs I've seen... but with an interesting twist: a floating top.

That's a nice table. I like incorporating metal with woodworking.

Expanding your woodworking skills to include metal working/welding will open up a whole new world and start you down another very slippery slope from which there is no return. BTDT.

Hey, That is my table! I built it as a bedside table.

Glad you like it. It was one of those visions/mental pictures I had and it just came together. The material had some history behind it, was pieces that I got with my dad for other projects before he died. He taught me metal work, and I taught him wood work, so it is a special piece to me

I have plans to make a similar one with drawers, and maybe a chest of drawers....

Hey, Brian. I was the one at TechShop that weekend resawing the sassafras and mulberry.

(edited on account of NCWW converting "T-S" (for TechShop) to "tablesaw"... which made no sense). lol
