And these are about as simple as they come. I've held on to these RT legs ever since making a cabinet-enclosure, and wondering what to do with them; now I know. The platform is a piece of 3/8" BB, with 3/8 cheap-grade ply strips underneath. Fir scraps provided the edging. The stereo-cubby already had 3/8NC threaded inserts, so four bolts holds everything together.
Of course, one never can have enough storage or shelf space in the shop, so ...
I had a leftover piece of 3/4" birch ply about 24"x26", and cut two 9"x26" pieces. The left and center frame wood was ripped from scraps of 2x6 and 2x4, and the right is 2x2, all Doug fir; held with 1/4-20FH Phillips on top, with carriage bolts to secure the frames to the existing shelf. The left hand side now has one bolt per side through the new upper frame, the old top and frame.
Of course, I ran out of 2x4 and 2x6 scraps straight enough to cut up, that's why the third frame doesn't match; this was a "git 'er done!" project!
My workbench top hasn't been so clear and clean in months.
