HF lathe users

Never thought about building my own tool rest? What are you doing different then the one that comes with it? I've been thinking about a curved tool rest for bowls.

Thats the main thing, the curved one, and also a smaller one for pens, and who knows what else

My son made me a tool 9" straight round tool rest out of a piece of scrap SS. Cost $0.00. It is nice to have a son with a welder. I knew that Christmas present would come in handy. :gar-La;

Good to know. I am thinking of boring out a piece of 25mm to 5/8" installing a set screw so that I can use my Jet Mini tool rests on my HF. The 5/8" rest are cheap and easier to get. I was going to start with a 1" piece and turn it down to 25mm but much easier to statrt with 25mm stock.
