Just found this site a little over a week ago and looked like a good place to meet folks with a common interest. Still learning my way around the site but have already found some useful and interesting information.

Welcome to the site, Denny -- glad you found us and hope you'll let us know more about what flavor woodworking you like the most. I'm not sure about you, but the sawdust I generate from making flat stuff smells sweeter than the stuff off those round-d-round ones! But I've not fallen off the dark edge liek some of them here (I still like 'em though!). Join in and have fun!

Welcome, Denny. There are a few members in western NC, perhaps not too far from you. If you have questions, ask. If you have good tips, share. :icon_thum

Rob, thanks for the reply. I'm really just getting back into woodworking after many years of not having the space or the tools to enjoy the hobby. Last summer I built my first workshop and I am still trying to get organized. I also lean toward working with the flat stuff, as you put it, but am open to trying a variety of different things. Over the years I have built a couple of bookcases, toys for the grandkids, wooden tools, a few turnings and I am in the process of completing a sofa table. Not to mention the numerous jigs and fixtures. With three grandsons I expect to be doing more with the wooden toys and I would also like to try my hand at some boxes of different kinds. My daughter also has her order in for a kitchen island. No shortage of ideas.
