Hi! I have been enjoying woodworking for nearly fifty years and spend most of my spare time in my garage/workshop (the cars do go inside every night). I build small furniture and small items such as boxes, picture frames, bookends, etc. Turning is my newest area of interest - I have been at it for the last couple of years, and have a LONG way to go.

Tools - DeWalt 734 planer; Craftsman table saw, 14" bandsaw and 6" jointer; Delta drill press, router table, drum/panel sander & scroll saw; Rigid oscillating belt/spindle sander; Harbor Freight mini-lathe, full-size lathe, 12" disc sander, mortiser, tool sharpener; Porter-Cable cordless drill; Makita cordless drills (lithium); etc, etc.

I work mostly in oak, walnut, cherry & cedar (my wife's favorite) from my father-in-law's farm in Kentucky. I do love maple.

After 13 years of teaching I moved into computers and am now a programmer analyst.

I have been lurking here for about a year. The threads are excellent - kind-spirited, interesting and informative. The galleries are superb! I truly appreciate what is being done here and hope to a helpful contributer.

Sincerely,

Eddie Byrd

Welcome Eddie - glad you came out of the shadows! You might be far enough away to be safe from the dreaded WoodGuy disease, and possibly the spreading dark side (turning). It will be interesting to see how well both spread through the internet. We'd love to see pictures of your work - as you have seen -no pictures -it didn't happen. Please add pictures to your album. I hope you enjoy the group as much as I do.

Judging from Eddie's machine inventory WGD is already rampant in TN and as far as the dark side he already owns two lathes! In any case, welcome friend we look forward to pictures from a long time woodworker :wsmile:

Welcome Eddie, it's great to have you join us. TN is a great state. I spent many years in both Nashville, and Knoxville, and my parents still reside in Old Hickory just outside of Nash-vegas.
I look forward to your input in the forums and hopefully seeing some pictures of your work.

Dave:)

Eddie, welcome. The first question that came to mind after reading your intro - what kind of woodworking did you do when you were a kid? 50 years, impressive!
