DW 735 Planer Dust Port to Shop vac adapter (is there one)

I was in HD today and picked up a diffuser for my Rigid shop vac. As I was installing the diffuser on the shop vac I noticed I didn’t have enough space and so I took the adapter off. Later in the day I remembered this post. The adapter fits perfectly on my DW735. There’s no play and it’s very snug. What I have now 'works' with and w/o a vacuum running. I was simply looking to see if 'they' made a simple adapter to accomplish (neatly) what Mr. Goldberg and I came up with out of PVC pipe and conduit - for five dollars or so ;)

The chip exit port on the DW735, just above the board exit, makes connecting hose less than 'straight forward.'

The 4" right turn, above looks like an Elbow. A better solution might be a 'long sweep' used in wastewater and sewage systems- but 'they' don't seem to make one to fit with Dust Collection accessories.

If you just need an adapter , get the od of the pipe (assumed 2.5") then go to a plumbing supply and get a Mission brand no-hub band that has the od. The Mission one have all kinds from cast to cast to terra cotta to copper. Point is there is already a No-hub band that will work. FYI A no-hub is specific to sch 40 or 80 pipe to pipe connection.

I used the PVC Pipe to a Dust Right Dust Collection Bag method. Makes it easy to empty as well.

I had it connected to shop vac originally, but it filled it up so quickly, it made sense to break it out to its own bag. Blower is more than strong enough to get chips into bag.

The end of my shop vac hose fits INTO the output on the adapter that came with my 735.
I run from outside my 1 car garage through shop vac tubes to a cyclone and then into my vacuum.
There have been occasions when I didn't have the vacuum going BEFORE turning on the 735 and it blew the top off of the cyclone (and sawdust chips all over the garage).

I use these things from the big box stores for adapting things to dust collection and shopvacs. the latest was building a gutter sucker so i could avoid the ladder.

That is all I use are no hubs, those ones depicted are the expensive ones (Fernco) there are a less expensive version

The one on the left is a standard no hub connector and the one on the right is a husky version for multiple story connections or for hospitals. Surprisingly, these tend to be cheaper at parts houses than big box, at least around here.

FYI, the flexible metal dryer exhaust hose will clamp onto the outside of the large exhaust if you want to deflect it into a garbage can, or away from the output board if outside, etc.

A dust deputy without a shop vac works well for me. A flex coupling ties the 735 exhaust to the hose, which is routed to the inlet port on the dust deputy. Obviously, some dust exhausts from the output port, but I’ve never used a shop vac downsteam because it could impede airflow enough to interfere with chip collection at the planer.

I was in Klingspor yesterday and took the connector off the DW735 they had sitting in the store over to the bins of DC Adaptors. I spent some time searching for and trying out adapters that looked like they might fit into, over or around the factory outlet piece before asking an employee.

If he was correct, there is nothing that DIRECTLY adapts the DW735 ro a 'standard' shop vacuum (I've a Rigid).

Thought to ask here if there was an adaptor (or combination) that works.

For now, I'm using a piece of PVC I heated up to make it fit
Since I just got a dw735, I found this thread searching for ideas. It seems Dewalt made their reducer to fit 2.5" hose attached via band clamp or by using a rubber no hub type fitting. I like the idea of using a 2" coupling, I initially thought to ream it out with a spindle sander. Heating seems easier. I assume the PVC coupling you used is a standard 2" which should have a standard ID of 2.375"+ a bit of wiggle room. Heating to stretch it to fit the 2.5" DW fitting is a good idea. But I'm surprised the ridgid hose fitting does not fit the coupling and needed the conduit fitting. My ridgid hose end measures 2-5/16" where the taper snugs up to the accessories, so should be slightly loose in the PVC coupling by 1/16" or so, which I am guessing could be snugged up by heating as well. I then thought maybe my ridgid is actually 2-1/4", but it fits my table saw and other tools with clearly shown 2.5" fittings. Anyway I am thinking of trying your heat idea and tighten a band clamp around the heated coupling to see if it can snug it up.

Until I can pick up a 2" coupling to try, I managed to jury rig a 3x4 aluminum downspout elbow to fit the 4" portion by rounding it out using pliers to smooth out the dimples. I tested it by directing it down toward the floor and the elbow stayed in place. So I'm now thinking of just clamping on a dust collector bag to the elbow and be done with it. Although I may still try the heat and band clamp to make an apater to use standard PVC pipe for other dust collection using the vac.

Earlier this year, I found an adapter to redirect sawdust up and away from the out feed table. Added a short piece of 4" hose fastened to the side of my cabinet supporting my DW735. I then added a magnetic coupling to a longer piece of 4" hose to my DC. Works great. (The YouTube video has a link to a free 3D printable file for making the reconfigured exhaust coupler if you have access to a 3D printer.)
