I have a 1/6 hp 1725 rpm Delco motor that was given to me, it has a pulley on it and he gave me an attachment for like a grinding wheel or buffing station. So... what should i make? I have a grinder already, dont have a buffing station... but not sure i really need one right now...

Any ideas?

I am new to woodworking, so I am building up the tools I have.

I have a:

Table Saw
Miter Saw
Lathe
Bench Grinder
and other odds and ends.

not a bad idea. I would like to keep my cost to a minimum though... I would like to get one of those one day!

ive heard of people using a motor to make a disc sander... would this motor be enough power? or is there a better project, maybe something else that i would need first?

I mainly turn pens, bowls, etc.

see above for the tools i already have.

Thanks!

Mike

I would think that you need at least 1hp for a disk sander. 1/6th hp would likely bog down too easily. You are better off going with a buffer/polisher.
