Bubinga Bowl

I turned my first bowl on my new Jet Lathe. It is from one piece of Bubinga. It was fun. Let me know what ya all think.

It is about 10 inches in diameter and about 1 and 1/2 inches from base to lip.

Hope this doesn't seem like a dume question - but when you turn something like this do you leave the piece that is on the bottom for the bowl to sit or do you take it off and have a flat spot there

Get some Cole Jaws or make a jam chuck and reverse chuck it. Then you can finish the foot however you want. It looks fine like it is though!

Nice bowl Doug!!! :icon_thum I passed up some Bubinga tonight at the Greensboro Woodcraft thinking the same thing....too plain. I need to rethink that thought. :slap:

I like your frisbee-bowl Doug. It's hard to beat the color and grain of bubinga. It's one of my favorites.

Looks great Doug. Perfect for sitting on the counter top collecting pens, empty batteries, keys, toothpicks, half-empty packs of bubble gum etc

So how do you like turning on this new lathe? Everything you hoped it would be?
