Thanks Mark :icon_thum Taping/spackling is one of my least favorite DIY projects and my brother who does it for a living is approximately 400 miles away :wconfused: This is definitely one of those why didn't I think of it things that I will be using on an upcoming repair job in my utility room. A tip I have used is to mix some plaster of paris with drywall mud for a quick divot repair in plaster walls and ceilings. The POP hardens fairly quickly and will not shrink like mud alone. :wsmile:

Buy a "banjo" and some kitchen gloves and have at it. I think HD stocks "banjo's." Somewhere I saw a tip where poster made an open top box, with a slit end each end near the bottom. Threaded tape through slits, plopped wet mud in box on top of tape, and just pulled out what he needed. Premudded tape! Seldom do I see any pros using joint compound for taping. Instead they use setting compound to bed tape, and first coat. This allows for two coats in one day, with skim coat on second day. Big draw back to setting comp, is if you mix two different batches, they are both going to set based on the time for the first one. The chemical reaction has started. You have clean up absolutely spotless between batches.
