I would love to know how you pull off some of the tricks you do.
That is incredible looking.

Thanks for the kind words
Experience and trial and error.
I started making pens 3 years ago this week.
My first 20 were American Classic Flattops.
after about the third one I got bored with drilling a hole in a chunk of wood and making the same pen in a different wood.
Buying a different kit wouldn't change much.
With trial and error I started doing glue ups to see what happens when "square things" are turned round.
This is where trial and error came in.
A lot of times I Struck out, sometimes as with the pen above I "hit one out of the park"
You won't know what happens until you step up to the plate.
I don't want to be a designated runner for the guy who can get the single.
I keep trying to hit it out of the park myself.
Babe Ruth struck out over 3000 times.
He is remembered for his 714 Home Runs.

You may have just been describing the clip and bands......:slap:

Beautiful pen by the way:eusa_clap

Yep I went out and had a custom brass clip made because I didn't care for that tacky titanium gold glip or bands:BangHead:

It must be interesting turning the brass.

Yep I had to change the way I hold the skew.
I normally hold the skew with one hand and my left hand is behind the blank.(Hard to describe but if you saw how I do it it's easy)
Because of the brass and possible blow outs I can't keep my left hand behind the blank, it feels odd.
What is really neat to see is the brass and ebony coming out of the blank as I Drill it.
