These two bowls are the continuation of my "Lostwood" series. This technique allows me to make a larger turning using less material. The left bowl measures: 12" x 17" x 3.5", the right: 12" x 18" x 3.25". The finish is pre-cat lacquer. There is a third bowl in this series, I donated it to Make-a-wish. Your comments are always welcome.

Thank you for your comments about these bowls.
I have seven more bowls in various stages of being made.
One of my next bowls is made from quilted big leaf maple,
I'll enhance the colors using aniline dyes.

Here's the technique I'll use: Aniline dyeing

Great piece of work. Mark, I hope you won't be offended if I try my hand at one.

Hi Larry,

I will be very much interested in what you make.
I'll give you one piece of advice; start small.

I have a bowl on the lathe right now that's 20" square,
it measures 28" on the diagonal. Having a bowl that size
spinning at 500rpm's is a little unnerving.

That's the most exciting new turned design I have seen in a long time!! Well done..

Thanks David, I like the way this series is going so far.
I've spent many hours of sketching my ideas and I have a few new
turnings in my shop ready for the lathe.
