Wood Type for Dining Table Chair

I'm planning to build dining table chairs for my dining table. What type of wood is typically used for making dining table chairs?

Typically it would be the same wood that you made the table out of. It should be a strong wood, like Maple, Beech, Hickory, White Oak or many of the exotics that are available. Chairs are subjected to the most stress of any furniture. They need to be light but strong.

If you are going formal, cherry, mahogany, and walnut are very common.
