I posted this in another thread, but decided it needed it's own thread:

We really need to open the OT forum back up. As you all know people come here to share their lives with this online family. Members still want to talk about OT topics and are randomly posting them in other catagories. Like these:

http://www.ncwoodworker.net/forums/f23/peacock-33549/ -This thread was moved from general WW to user announcements, by myself. Still don't think that's the right thread, but better than General WW

I re and reread them. Seems like a unilateral decision, that was made just in case. That is like not driving your car, just in case you might get in an accident. Silly. Our family wants to share with each other, and that is part of what makes this site different.

(This was a much longer more wordy post, but it got deleted accidentally)

Gary, your feelings are shared by others as well. As you know a lot has happened this week. Please give Tracy a few days to get his feet back on the ground.I am sure we will know more us a day or two.

This may put this thread on a tangent and we will definitely need to discuss it more, but has anyone considered limiting OT posting to Corporate Members? Would that tend to eliminate any of the problems there?

I don't know if it eliminates any of our specific problems but I do think Corp. members have a right to be informed and discuss the issues that an OT forum presents. I believe that most of the conversations we have in the privacy of this forum that relate to specific members and the problems they cause should remain private.

I think this dialogue might be getting to the heart of the moderation issues and although here and now may not be the time and place I think it's a step in the right direction.
