John, have you noticed there is a little more friction pushing a 16in board over the jointer than say an 8-10in board.. I sometimes sprinkle a little baby powder over the beds of my 16in to make the wood slide a little easier, and of course keep it waxed. Its looks great. Are there plans to one day maybe put a Byrd head in this one too?

Robin, I've only run very light passes and was actually surprised about how little force is required to push the peice through. I will keep it waxed up to keep friction down. One thing really handy is the push pad from Woodworker's Supply that has the hingeg piece that can hook over the end of the board. That makes a huge difference in my book.

Probably won't be a byrd head for this one. Since it will have to be custom made the price is over $4000 for that head. Not to mention I will probably kill the motor if I have to take the shaft out of the machine because of how critical the alignment is in that motor.

Thanks,

John
