The Moak is in the shop!!!!!

Well, it has been a long hard journey, but I'm finally at the end of it all. I posted on OWWM, but here is a quick pick of the jointer all complete.

Well, thanks to a couple really nice neighbors and some sweat and tears the jointer is on my pallet jack, into the trailer, and finally into the shop. Yes, the jointer is in the shop. The trailer was at it's limits. The floor was flexing, but the ramp held strong and we got it in the shop.

Now was the exciting Part!!!!

I got the jointer over to the shaper plug, plugged it in, flipped on the phase converter, crossed my fingers, and hit the start button.....

So many variables.... was the winding of the motor good, was it still wired for 220V, did I wire the new starter right....

With a mighty intial grow the motor fired up in the right direction. Once the motor hit full speed all I could here was the air moving out of the way of the wirling head. It is a little loud, but the only real noise is air. Very smooth!!!!!!!!

A couple nights of aligning the blades and the table, and I'll have this monster cutting like it never cut before. :icon_thum:icon_thum:icon_thum:icon_thum

Can you tell I'm excited?

Congratulations John, you did a really nice job on the rehab.:icon_thum Now if we can just coax that Oliver into the trailer and get it on the road to Fayetteville you will be all finished with this project.:lol:

Won't be long now!!! I'm going to setup and test the Moak on the pallet jack and then the Oliver comes out and Moak goes in. Of course the Oliver is going to remain on standby for a while until I have a few hrs on the Moak. Everything is looking good so far.

Great news, John! Happy to hear that you were able to coax your entire neighborhood to move her out of drydock and into a temporary slot until her final berth is ready. I sense that the earlier post you did on selling the Moak and the Ollie were just old-fashioned wishful thinking (or a high fever from extended WGD:rolf:!) Care to enlighten us all on "What were you thinking"?

Now that you've succeeded in firing it up, will it pass the nickel test? Darn thing will probably blow the freaking nickel across the shop!

Ok, ok, ok. I can disclose the deal I was working on. I spoke to the guy in Raleigh with the used Mini Max F1 16" jointer and got him down on the price to where it was pretty reasonable. Then I picked up the phone and talked to MM about a new one and got a deal worked well below retail price since the show is coming up and I'm running a school. It was good enough deal I was going to try to swing it. After all the work on the Moak I can't part with her. She is part of the family now. LOL

Will she pass the nickle test? Maybe not during starting, but definitely during the running and slowdown. We'll see when the knives are in it and it is on the floor and not on a pallet jack.

Don't worry, in the same thought of saving money by not getting the MM I was thinking about the Saw Stop. I'll still be the one to look up to. LOL
