LOOK AWAY WOODGUY - Cheap tools on show!!!!

Well I feel I'v taken another step on the road to US Citizenship - My first Nail gun!! Well, in that typical, understated, British sort of way, I started small - it's a Brad nailer.

What more can I ask for for $15.00!
It has a case, some spares, oil... and it works.... Good old HF.

If you look hard enough you may find a cheap grizzly brad nailer in woodguys "shack" of a shop.....lol. He might even admit to using it every now and then, except for when Norm comes over :)

hmmm... looks mighty familiar! Good to know it works (I have not had the opportunity to use mine yet). I'm not sure if that's properly categorized as "soft" porn or "smut"!

David,

I bought one of those a couple of years ago... I think for around the same price. It never gave me any trouble at all. I passed it along to a friend who works at Habitat for Humanity and it is still in service. A neighbor who has a woodworking business has several HF nailers and he swears by them.

Nice tool. I suspect you'll be very happy with it.

The HF and the grizzly brad nailers are the same I think. I can't tell a difference except for the color. I have used mine a little bit and have had zero problems out of it. It works great.

That's all good to know, I feel a brad nailer is one of those tools that when you need one, you gotta have it, but not very often, so paying more was not justified. I mainly bought it for assembly of the torsion box top of the assy table, to hold everything in place while the glue sets.

Nice gloat there Dave....It's great when you get new tools AND the price is right! Double bonus in my book....
Take care,
Randy

Latest issue of Woodsmith has some good pointers on using brad nailers, especially on preventing blowout & splintering.

Hee, Hehe, as John would say. DavidF is clearly infected with WoodGuy Disease. Hmmm, looks small enough to hide from LOML--gotta get me one

Oh yeh, Bought 1000 each 3/4 and 1 1/4 from HD. I've reduced my scrap pile to half it's number of pieces by nailing them all together:lol:

Actuators and rollers came in yesterday and look great. Should get those mounted and working this w/e. I need to get some more Acme threaded rod and that will not arrive until next week; hopefully before the long Easter w/e - I can at least see the end of the lifting part - just the torsion box to build next.

LOL, I have to admit I do have a cheapo Grizzly nailer I bought on a presidents day sale. It works fine. The reason I got it is it takes a size nail that my PC guns don't. For some reason PCs won't take 1.5" nailes, but the griz does so that is what stays in it. :) Heck, that is a good idea. I'll just buy a dedicated gun for every nail size I use. :icon_thum That will only mean I have to buy 12 guns. LOL :)

Another good buy is the HF 23 gage pin nailer. If you do any glass doors work you'll want one. :) I have the Senco and the HF looks identical to it.

I have looked for that repeatedly, as I could use it for some reconditioning jobs at work, I could probably even do like DaveO did with that fancy router bit, and have the boss buy off on it. Any hints as to where or when you found the 23 gauge nailer on HF? It is never in stock in the Fayetteville store, and I have yet to find it on-line.
