Small Intarsia Mummy.
My very first Intarsia piece! And with Halloween being my favorite holiday this seemed appropriate.
The design is from the latest Issue of @scrollsawwoodworking Magazine (Fall 2023) and I used Ambrosia Maple for the wrappings, Yellow Pine for the Eyes, and Walnut for the Face and Pupils.
Took around 10 minutes to scroll out with number 2 blades on my @deltamachinery scroll saw and to make sure my face sides were always the right way up I scratched the reverse sides with a number 2 pencil.
Sanded and shaped everything with my Marathon Rotary Tool from @bearwoods_supplycompany and other sandpapers from @klingsporswoodworkingshop
I assembled the piece with a combo of CA Glue for the instant bond and @thegorillagluecompany for the stronger bond.
After drying I applied several coats of @rustoleum clear gloss for a finish.
Is it perfect no, am I happy with it being my very first Intarsia piece, absolutely and the learning process is always fun!
I'm no expert at intarsia and if you wanna see some amazing examples of the art form be sure to check out
@cyscorner and @jgrintarsia
What a great project to get into the spooky season! Swipe to see all pics!
