I need some advice on an emergency finishing job. I have a small cedar wine rack that I need to get some shellac onto ASAP. I have not tried shellac finish in a long time, and this may not be the time to experiment, but I really want to try shellac on the cedar wine rack.
I bought some Zinsser amber shellac in a can that is described as a "3# cut." I am thinking that I want to cut the shellac to 1# cut so that I can put on multiple coats with 320 sanding in between each coat for 6-8 coats. I don't have time to order the flakes so the canned stuff will have to do.
What do you think about this strategy? Any suggestions will be gratefully accepted.
