I really like your vase the contrast of segments and other woods are great. I am curious about how you hollowed it out...I have not tried a vase yet. Still working on bowls!

Very nice segmentation but I especially love the graceful shape you turned.

This piece is built from bottom up. Waste block in chuck / base piece/ stack centered rings (18 pieces to a ring) up to where the solid cap is. I turned it in two pieces. The base is turned and hollowed and finished inside. The solid hard maple cap (top) was turned seperatley and finished inside. Make sure everything is centered and join the halves. clean up the outside/ remove waste block, finish of choice . I used a easy friction polish

When you guys do the segmented vace's how do you determine what size to cut the segments? If I wanted to make something lets say 4" in dia how do you determine the length of the segmentsl
