So JOAT posted this thread the other day in honor of the National Speak Like a Pirate Day, or maybe it was just a coincidence. Eitherway this was a good idea and my 3yr old is going to be a pirate for Halloween. So I figured, I might as well make him a treasure chest.

It still needs a coat of paint and perhaps some hardware, but it's already well loved and currently storing some of his treasures.

We sanded the edges some, just to knock off the rough edges from the band saw.

Sanding is serious stuff.

Air nailers are lots of fun for boys of all ages.

Certainly won't qualify as fine woodworking, but he had a blast working on this. I've got another one cut out. I hope to do a better job on it and donate to charity auction this fall. Thanks for looking. Also special thanks to JOAT for the post, or I'd have never thought about doing this project.

He does look extremely satisfied. I know he enjoyed his shop time with dad today!

Neat project, I need to do something similar.

Your son got a treasure chest, and you got the treasure of WW'ing with him. Double WIN. :icon_thum

Yep, the WIP is a treasure. If the kid's smile doesn't bring a smile to your face, nothing will.

Thanks, Phil :icon_thum
