I have a tree guy coming out to look at an oak I need to get taken down. It is still alive, but is leaning and has been for a while - at some point before we bought the house something pushed it partially over. Anyway, it is ~20" across at the base. I don't know if it is red oak, white oak or some other variety but if any one is interested in blanks I will save a few pieces of it. It is 40' or so feet high, so there will be plenty of firewood left over. I am in Mebane but work in RTP 3 days a week.

Forgot to mention, these are free. PM if interested.

The tree is down. It is white oak. There is a light colored exterior, sapwood is dark brown, something like this, but I think this pic the bowl is elm. My tree is much larger - up to 20" diameter. I also will have crotchwood.

Last try, here's a pic of the log. Already cut 15' or so off it, there is another 20' to go. This is a crappy cellphone pic, the diameter there is 15" or so. I also have some much smaller pieces I found by the road last year that are much drier. Those are about 6" diameter. Similar color - the bowl in the OP came from one of those. This is all going into my dad's woodstove otherwise.
