Like Scott Smith I got here via the Forestry Forum. Celebreating 25 years in NC this year.......We are from Michigan but have lived in Alabama, Florida and Illinois. We moved to NC ON PURPOPSE, we could have gone anywhere, but we chose NC. My wife retired 7 years ago from Charlotte/Mecklenburg schools after a distinguished career as a Special ed teacher, Literacy Specialist, and spending her last 5 years helping establish Bright Beginnings, a nationally acclaimed pre-K program for needy children....
I am a long time Horticulturist, actually 3rd generation in the greenhouse industry. My last and most rewarding position was Hortitherapist in the mental health program at Brown Creek Correctional in Polkton. My inmates were chronically mentally ill felons. I had a great time getting my charges to plant and weed their own gardens and not hurt each other and especially me.I have always been a wood worker by desire and circumstance. I bought a Cooks MP32 band mill when I retired 6 years ago and love it. I do saw for others and everyone is hauling me free logs from all over. I saw all species, my favorite is ERC which I also carve and turn out custom signs and commission pieces.
We are just south of Stanfield and have 12 acres of mixed woods. Email me for directions for a visit...You are always welcome............
