This project has been on my "to do" list for several years. Earlier I made a similar box for my older granddaughter, so naturally I was obligated to eventually make a box for her sister "Kate". The box is small but challenging; I haven't had much recent experience with small components with angled cuts. I found that I struggled to figure out how to safely make some of these cuts. That said, I am pleased with the outcome. The box is made from sapele, while the top is a combination of purple-heart, hard maple, and sapele. I routed the "K" with a Whiteside straight cut bit (1/16") and used a mix of two pigments to color the epoxy before casting. The music works was purchased from Rockler, it plays "Greensleeves".
