While working on my first picture frame, I kept the mitered ends, because I liked their geometry. I was so smitten, I decided I had to make something out of them.

I came up with this:

I also had the the remnants of cove from the frame that I used to "frame" the mitered ends.

Not sure what I will end up using it for, but, then again, I wasn't sure what I could make of the mitered ends either!

There is no scrap! We are only limited by our imagination. Common Oak from Klingspor $1 /bf and 2 coats of Tongue Oil, Poly and 1 coat of paste wax. Pine trim

I did the same thing with molding and made designs on the kitchen cabinets. mice piece of wall art you have made there.

Yes, its a hybrid/mix of Oak and Walnut. I arranged piece so most of the Walnut is showing, but you can see some streaks of Oak. I like using this wood as hardwood"test cut" pieces, jig bases, etc.. Also use to paint over for picture frames etc...
