Made the shadow box as a gift. It is for a memorial flag and the display. It is made of red oak. I cut down a 1"x 6" to rough width then used the cut off and with a locking miter joint attached it to the front to give the me e lip to hold the glass. I then used a couple different router bits to create the front profile. The back is simply a piece of lauan that has been flocked with a black felt. I am just waiting for the glass to finish it.

That came out great, excellent looking miters! What did you use to attach the felt to the plywood?

I used the flocing kit you get form Rockler, or woodcraft, they are the same. Just used the black adhesive with the black flock, let it sit for a day then flipped it over to get rid of the excess, let is sit for a week to cure, then tapped it to get the lose fibers off. I used a pre stain and then early American to darken it then three coats of poly. Thanks for the heads up on the glass.
