I made this gavel and sounding block for a friend of mine. the Block, handle and head are all highly figured black walnut. I am working on one more, out of figured red oak. I don't see a lot of red oak, so am looking forward to how it turns out. I have the block on that one done, and started turning the head today. Maybe it will be done by next weekend, but for now....ORDER IN THE COURT!!!

Nice figure in that walnut and good finishing. Lets hope that head is good and glued, so it don't fly off in mid air and hit someone in the head. Wait that might be a new form of justice... of course it wouldn't work on FredP :gar-La;

It is glued with 5 min. epoxy and it was a tight fit to begin with, so I don't think it will come off.
