Definitely a neat concept, having seen pictures of bamboo construction scaffolding used in the orient I can see where the traits of strength with shock absorption would work on a bike. This thread did however put me to mind of another one started by DaveO recently. I can just hear the plantive call from one's children "Daddy!!! the carpenter bees ate my bike" :rotflm::rotflm::rotflm::rotflm::rotflm:

I saw Gilligans bike on a recent trip to Calif. Almost totally constructed from bamboo. Not sure if Ginger sat up front or behind.

i like the bamboo ones, but they would scare me riding one.. they seem a tad rickety compared to say ash or oak
