Please point me in the correct direction if I'm being naive. I'm interested in building a lazy susan and I was curious if there were any ratios I should follow regarding the diameter of the bearing plate and base in regards to the top? From my initial research it seems like the bearings are very strong regarding weight. I'm most concerns about causing the lazy susan to tip if something of moderate weight is set near or on the edge of the top.

This is a good question - I have wondered this myself - I am sure someone here can help us out

My wife wants me to build a lazy susan for the dining room table which is next on my list. I was thinking about using a thin, maybe 1/4" to 3/8" thick base plate under the bearings almost as big a diameter as the lazy susan itself, and then have the visible part of the lazy susan have a lower lip to hide the base plate and limit the amount it could tip in the worst case scenario.
