I have come across a lathe chuck and manual. The chuck is called "Precision Combination Chuck" with Robert Sorby Ltd. printed on the cover of the manual. So I assume it was made in Sheffield, England by Robert Sorby Ltd. but I have not found a model number or any number that identifies the chuck, maybe there is not such a number.:-?

How can one determine the age and value of the chuck? Sorby is not noted for being cheap and how would you find parts if needed?:eusa_thin

If anyone has a chuck of this nature, please enlighten me.

Maybe David F can solve the puzzle:icon_thum

Sounds like 1980's era chuck Richard Raffin uses in his book and video "Turning Wood."

Some years back a Precision Combination Chuck, as used by Richard Raffin was being sold here. Not sure of the price or if still available.

Doubt it's worth big money, given the quality of modern chucks from major manufacturers and China clones.
