There's been a lot of chatter about the new Kerfmaker on a couple other WW boards. This ingenious jig from Bridge City quickly and accurately sets dados on the table saw, router table, and other tools. Here's the commercial version: http://www.bridgecitytoolworks.info/Products/Miscellaneous+Tools/KM-1+KerfMaker+Pre-Order
There's a Youtube video demonstrating the use.

Several simplified homemade verions have been posted in the past week. I thought this one looked interesting, and decided to make one and test it: http://lumberjocks.com/projects/19473

It's a very simple build, using scraps and hardware I had on hand. And I'm happy to say it works like a charm. It's easy, fast, and very accurate.

The basic unit, closed. The lower component is shortened the width of the saw blade

the two components. Bolt, washers and knob locks the two halves together with pressure

adjusted for board width, and knob tightened.

Dang, thats slick.

I was also surprised to see a Bridge City tool for only $65. I have no issue with what they charge given what they make, I'd just have expected at least a 1 infront of that 65.

Thanks for sharing!

Very interesting and cool. Not sure I understand yet how it works, but I'm going to check it out. That joint you made is perfect.

At first I look at this and thought "why bother", then I watch the video and think "I WANT ONE OF THOSE"!

Way cool. It is a very ingenious idea. Simplifies things a lot especially since my tablesaw will not take a dado blade.

PS -I like the music from the video. Anyone know what/who it is?
