I didn't want to hijack Tracy's thread on the future of the Off Topic forum.
Trent's post was a wonderful example of how the people outside the inner sanctum view the Off Topic forum. Not to belittle Trent, but he's a bit wet behind the years on the grief we've been through :eusa_thin
That got me thinking (yeah, again).....:widea:
With an expanded User Announcements forum, we could setup the following:
1. "Food for thought....." forum
2. Its a post once, no reply forum.
3. We could set it up so the post is closed after its submitted.
This would offer us two big benefits.
1. The spirit of Off Topic, as shared by Trent could be retained.
2. The problems of OT discussions going south would be curtailed. (The typical "You said the word China, the horrors of imported goods stole jobs and receded my hairline!")
3. Should a "Food for thought..." thread inspire someone, they'd be able to use Private Messages or email or telephone or door to door visitation to share in that topic.
As I said, this is just..... Food for thought :gar-Bi
