I am going to be building a few jewelry boxes. I got some walnut and butternut for the two boxes I am going to build.
I haven't used or finished butternut before, so was wondering what your favorite finish for it is??
I will normally finish my walnut with amber shellac and then topcoat with a polish or poly depending on the end use.
My first jewelry boxes, so design will be fairly simple with a top tray and a drawer underneath.
Depending on how butternut finishes out, I am toying with using it for the drawer front to have some contrast against the walnut.
Was also considering finishing one box with Danish oil instead of shellac. Used Watco before but thinking may try Deft to see how it looks on walnut.
