My way to make a feature ring.
The finished ring rough turned.

Starting with a block of Maple and a print out (a circle divided into 16 parts)

Pattern is glued on the wood and I will cut into 16 pieces to make 2 sun's

Sanding each piece

And gluing the rays in

Cutting plugs to make the sun

Clamping 2 togather with a thin spacer between them and drilling then

Gluing the sun piece in 2 at a time

Of course cutting them apart

After cleaning them up on the sander then cutting the angles to make segments of them

The ring dry fitted before glue up.

Glue up

After flatning and sanding one side glued on the turning

I think every ring in that form is a feature ring...but the top one definitely takes the cake! Incredible.
