Tried my hand at carving some leaves and stringing a border for this step stool for my granddaughter. Unfortunately the 8" height only gets her nose to counter height so it will be a few months before she uses it for a step but it is a good seat for her now.
The Cherry came from a tree that fell in the yard during the spring storms and was milled using chainsaw then air dried in the garage for about 6 months. The leaves were traced from a few selected out of the huge pile, carved with a knife and small palm gouge. Stringing required making a scratch stock from some scrap maple and chunk of knife steel.
