cutting board clamping

Wife asked for a bunch of cutting boards for gifts.

Have made 5. Some with very thin strips. I am having trouble with the boards slipping when clamp pressure is applied. I end up with low and high spots. I know, clamp boards top and bottom of each end.

My question is what method do you use to keep the boards clamped on the ends from coming in contact with the glue? I would like to use the boards multiple times without having to go through the same process each time. Once again I am trying to cheat the learning curve. I have a couple of ideas but I am sure someone will have a better idea.

Yes, WAX paper is good... you could also spring for the $$$ release tape they use to work with Epoxy stuff.
Packing Tape... OK if you don't leave it on too long. In our current Global Warming heat-wave you might have issues cleaning it off whatever you put it on. Glue on the other hand .. does not seem to want to stick to the shinny side.
Good luck!
