Cheap Wide Belt Sander...Really Cheap, Really Cool Idea

I know you're bound to have clothes hanging on one of these in your bedroom or basement or taking up space in your garage. If not the Goodwill or Habitat RESTORE will have one. Get a piece of orphan granite from Craigslist and a belt of sandpaper to fit. Bob's yer uncle.

Thanks Mark :icon_thum That is a really cool idea that once again validates the inventiveness of frugal woodworkers. As I watched this a few things came to mind:widea::

1) I have several large sanding belts in storage above my shop

2) I have a second hand treadmill that has sat unused for several years.

3) I have a stash of angle iron in the shed.

4) I REALLY need to get the rewiring of my welder done. :gar-La;
5) Any space gained in the shop will immediately be filled by another machine.:tinysmile_tongue_t: Today's previously scheduled project is shlepping the extra refrigerator I have in the shop to the local SPCA since their's is on it's last legs. I foolishly thought I could cut down on electric usage and free up shop floor real estate. :rotflm:
Oh well, I guess I will not be gaining shop floor space but instead gaining space in my future office/exercise room in the house and cutting down on surface sanding time. :wsmile:
