I got a call earlier in the week from a friend wanting gifts for the baseball coaches at the local middle and high schools. The varsity team went all the way to the state championship series, but unfortunately didn't win the title. The parents wanted gifts for the coaches involved that were baseball themed, and my friend thought of me and my pens.
Here's what I came up with. The brown pen was the prototype, made from a piece of koa. The remainders are made from maple, and I used a slightly longer tube for the lower section of the pen to give the handle a little more length.
