I had to cut down a small oak that was dead. I save a few pieces from the firewood pile in case they were of any interest to the turners. They're a little small, but if anyone wants them they are free for the taking.
I also have another oak which may be of more interest. The base looks interesting (at least to a non-turner). It must have had a split truck at one point. This one is not down yet, but likely will be coming down soon. I think it's about 14" diameter above the split trunk.
One more oak to bring down, approx 30 in diameter with a nice straight trunk and about 10' to the first knot from a limb. This one will be sawn into flat pieces. :eusa_danc If I can get that walnut log from Craigslist I will have it sawn at the same time, along with a poplar or two. Once I get some idea of when this will all happen I may request some help if someone is interested in splitting the results for their labor. I'm sure I don't want to be moving logs and stacking lumber by myself.:no:
