Is the General equipment any good? I remember their stuff from shop class in High School, but have never owned any. What's it comparable to?
I have used a general table saw, and disc sander. They seem to be top quality machines. From the looks of the bandsaw I would say it would compare with the 17" Rikon. Its probably not a bad price at all for a decent piece of equipment.
Note that this bandsaw is made by General International (Asian), not General (Canadian). I wonder about the motor listed at 1 hp - seems a little light for a 17" saw. The current 17" bandsaw from General International is model 90-240 which has a 2 hp motor and a little bigger table at 17 x 23 1/2. It also lists new for $1500+. So the $650 for this model is fairly decent, especially with the Kreg fence.
