walls

Ceiling and walls on the cheap.

I saw a post on CL yesterday for 5/16" MDF 82"x97" for 3 bucks a sheet. I have no idea how I would transport it yet, but can I get away with hanging this from trusses for my ceiling? I'm concerned about the weight of MDF as compared to OSB or drywall. I'm trying to put together the interior...

How to butt together 4 walls?

Any framers out there? I need to put up walls for a bathroom in my shop. I can build the 4 walls, but is there a preferred or required layout for butting the walls together at the corners? 2 opposite walls inside the other 2 walls, or overlap each corner differently, or ??. :dontknow:(I know...

OSB vrs plywood walls

My last shop had plywood panel walls. I really liked having walls I could attach directly to. I just finished a 25' X 25' shop in OSB. I thought I would add to this discussion. Not trying to change anyone's mind - just food for thought. I considered OSB walls when I had a bunch left over...

How to estimate 2x4 for framing walls?

Anyone know a guide or quick rule to estimate the amount of wood to frame internal walls. Obviously the height and length of the walls matter and the distance between studs is crucial (16"). Plus whether there are doorways. I am wondering if there is a rough way to estimate the number of boards...
