    Wiring 220v plug?

I have my first 220v tool and I need to change either the plug end or the socket because they don't match. From what I have read here and elsewhere I have gathered that in single phase it does not matter which of the two "hots" goes to which prong - as long as the ground is correct. Am I right?

Wire type for 240v extension cord or new, longer plug assembly

What wire designation do I need to either make an extension cord for a 240v 20a circuit or make up a new, longer cord? I will only be extending 12' for a total of 18' of cord so 12ga should be fine but I would rather go to 10ga. Is there a designation to tell me that a certain cable is...

    Plug for The Woodworking Source

Hope this is the correct forum for this. I went to The Woodworking Source this weekend and got some great deals from Rick. I purchased the router raizer and bit extender (both great prices) and also picked up some pieces for woodturning that Rick had put aside as non useable for his purposes (he...

    Plug thickness to hide screws?

I have a project where I am abutting two cabinets. They do not have face frames but are edged with 3/4" thick maple. There is a visible gap when abutting the cabinets. I want to pull them together by screwing the maple edging together from adjoining cabinets. But I would like to hide this with a...

    Plug cutter update

While browsing through the new McFeelys catalog looking at plug cutters, I happened to read through a description of the cutter that suggested "For best results, drill to full depth of cutter." I chucked up my Snappy, grabbed a piece of scrap and cut deeply. Popped it out with a...

Plug cutters, cypress, smoke and shards

I'm needing to cut plugs for the Adirondacks, and currently have two plug cutters. One is from a BORG, maker long forgotten, and it doesn't cut, it chews the cypress. I purchased this BORG cutter to plug screwholes in the oak flooring, and after cutting about four, decided that for a workshop...

Anybody in the Ral area w/ a plug cutter?

Anybody in the Ral area w/ a plug cutter who wouldn't mind helping a brother out? I'm in the process of putting down ~650 sqft of prefinished RO hardwood floors to cover the whole upstairs of my house. I figured out how exactly I want to do the bull nose part at the top of the stairs. I want...

Plug for customer service at AS, and of course, a pen.

This weekend, the LOML decreed that I have yet to make her a decent pen that she could call her own, and that oversight would now be set right. So she strolled out to my stock of pen blanks, like the queen of my domain she is, picked up a piece of chinawood, and said, "I want a nice pen with a...

Good info regarding Dust Collectors ... forgiving the Woodtek plug of course!

Have you ever felt a little confused when trying to compare or evaluate the published performance data for various electrified equipment? Don't feel badly. The data is often confusing and there are usually caveats about the measurements that the manufacturer does not publish with the data. As an...
