How to mortise the end of a board?

I have a project that requires several mortises (the hole) to be made in on the grain end of several small 2 1/2 inch wide boards. I have a table top mortiser but it does not lend itself to this type of board end drilling. I am leaning toward a drill, a vise, and some sharp chisels but I was...

Intarsia Help, please - Backing Board

I was hoping to get some advice from those talented intarsia-ists who live here :) On the dolphin intarsia that I posted, I had glued it up to a 1/8" piece of plywood. The problem is that I have another 1/8" cherry shim that I'm using to push the front dolphin out to give it some overall...

    Cutting Board

I did have to wait tilll after Christmas to put the finishing touch on this cutting board for the misses. Cherry and maple with 1/4 inch roundover and rubbed down with mineral oil. It turned out better than I thought it would but the most important part, the LOML was surprised and loved it.

For the board: Confusion on NC WW membership and rights

A thread was recently moderated, and the original poster had some objections. Nothing new there, and that's not the point. The poster made several arguments: "By going to a corporation this board is now a public place and, as long as things stay civil, all subjects should be allowed." "As a...

    Peg board cabinet done!

Well, except for hanging it. Here it is on the floor: With the plans I printed after the dog ate part of my original set. Here is where it is going: I went with construction grade lumber to save money and frustration. The money is obvious, but the frustration factor is a little more...

    Cutting Board...

I feel like I am following the crowd on this one, which I seldom do, but I am folding to peer pressure. I am thinking about making a endgrain cutting board. I think all of the cool kids are making these things, and I am no where near cool, but there has to be something with making these...

    Recess Cutting Board

Anybody see A-TOH.this sunday? Tommy showed how to repair counter tops different ways. The last way was to hide a burn by installing a cutting board. He had a cutting board set in a recess ring, he did not say anything about it other than you could use one. Rita want's one and I have looked all...
