Will a dead or live center for metal work for wood?

The 0MT cup center on my Goodell Pratt is wore out and you can't buy a new one. I can buy a 0MT live center for a metal lathe, will it work?

That's what I have on my lathe, except it is a #4 Morse taper.

I was afraid it would continually push into the material. Sounds good, I'll pick one up.

Yes it does, you must be careful not to over tighten the tail stock screw.

you may find a kit with several different points for a live center, one of those may have a cup center.

Just to follow up, I ordered a live center, drill chuck, JT33/0MT arbor, and a set of center bits from Little Machine Shop on the 7th and they arrived on the 9th; shipping was a little over $5. Great prices, fast shipping, and the only reasonably priced source for 0MT stuff I could find.
