Me , FredP and Jim ( scrollski ) took a little run to Spring Hope Sat to look at some wood Rob S had for sale . Came away with some nice cedar, spalted beech and pecan

Hung around a kewl old barn/workshop chock full of memories

Learned some valuable lessons as well :

A 400 pund planer lifted by 4 people is still freakin heavy !!

Square equipment stands , by Chinese law , do not have to actually be square :BangHead:

Fred has a real truck that he is not afraid to drive through the woods :icon_cheers

Last but not least :

A 6 ft 1-1/2" man cannot walk upright through a 6 ft door without causing himself substantial pain, embarrasment and loss of a little scalp. Trust me , I actually did this twice just to be sure :BangHead: :embaresse

I now join FredP in the " Head Bonkers " club. I might actually run for president now :wconfused:

Had a great time, good fellowship, some belly laughs and scored some purdy wood :icon_thum

Thanx Robert for the hospitality and the square deals :icon_cheers

With the exception of the noggin bashing sounds like a great day :gar-Bi At 6' 2" + I can empathize, my metal utility shed has some skull shaped dents in the upper door frame :eusa_doh:I spied an old 'arn jointer in the back of the shop, I am glad someone else is keeping one alive. :wsmile:

I did have some questions though... isn't that poison ivy in the last picture... and aren't those sandals that Fred is sporting?? :swoon:

Old!!? Hey I bought that thing new! :gar-Bi

As for the door - I'm 5' 9 1/2 and It gets me about once a month. I think it's about 5' 7". Don't know why my wife's 6' grandfather would build such a low door. Maybe he built that one for her grandmother who was only about 5'2".

Wish I could find a market for that poison ivy, and glad I don't catch it.

No mention of the wasps in the cedar stack?

I owe you guys a lot of thanks for helping lift that planer. Just imagine the pile of sawdust I can make now! And in a variety of colors too!

There is a little bit of both left, maybe 100 bf of the beech, maybe about 60 bf of the pecan. The pecan is not spalted. Lots of walnut and cedar too.
